"... one of the most innovative and exciting
groups on today's avant garde scene. The group excels once again
with the absolutely fresh Now Is Rising, a soulful amalgam of
sound that showcases the group's versatality and formidable gifts." -

"Ridiculously cool local 24 piece 'marching band'. This feisty bunch gets
down with some monster grooves, New Orleans-like funeral & marching music,
foot-stomping cartoon-like hilarity, post-klez and other ethnic music mayhem.
A complete blast." - Bruce Gallanter (Downtown Music Gallery NY)

"Improvisation is one of the oldest traditions in jazz, and when it's employed
by those who seek to explode tradition, the results are exhilarating. This is
the new new music, an up-to-date message from jazz avant garde; the music is
alive and well, and Earth People is one of its strongest contributors." -
Florence Wetzel (All About Jazz NY)

"Sparkiing Jacket" is nearly formless - vaguely flamenco guitar, unaccompanied,
noodling with drunken abandon one usually reserves for those moments immediately
prior to passing out. Hmm." - Dave Jimenez (Trash)

Deth Boat
Donkey Ride Down the Grand Canyon / Lemmings
(1994) 45
guitars, vocals
producer
"Donkey Ride" is a slow bluesy bass-driven instrumental that feels like, well,
a donkey ride down the Grand Canyon until the last thirty seconds when it turns
into a psychedelic freakout. Man, this is a welcome change of pace from most
of the stuff that gets submitted for review. It's original, funny, and
unaffected. "Lemmings" has hilarious lyrics ("when we fall, we make a
cool sound" and "the glory of the lemming, plummeting grace") with a Germanic
metal structure, beerhall vocals and a Zappaesque guitar break. Though
the recording is too low-fi to do the band justice, Deth Boat probably has a
lot more goodies where these two came from, and I want to hear them." - Dave
Jimenez (Trash)
